COOPER SPUR MOUNTAIN RESORT, Mount Hood

Cooper Spur Mountain Resort has several lodging options: hotel rooms (king, double queen, or family with one queen and two twin beds), a historic homestead cabin, five log cabins, and three lodge condos. Apartments come with a fireplace, private entrance, seating area, one to three bedrooms, and one or two bathrooms with a bath and shower. Each kitchen has a stovetop, refrigerator, dishwasher, and kitchenware. Rooms have tea and coffee makers, wardrobes, carpeted floors, heating, and flat-screen TVs with cable channels. Dog-friendly units are available, stocked with a dog bed and bowls. Free wireless internet is provided. Pack-n-play cribs can be rented for $20 per stay.

The Crooked Tree Tavern & Grill sources local and organic ingredients when possible, including produce and herbs from its own garden. The tavern is relaxing with period cedar walls. It is perfect for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. The kitchen prepares meals from scratch, baking buns, breads, and deserts and grinding meat for burgers. Composting and recycling are top priorities. The restaurant minimizes the impact on the environment by sourcing food from local vendors. You can have a reasonably priced dining experience or just belly up to the bar for happy hour.

Guests can access the Cooper Spur Old Growth Forest trails behind the tavern. The resort is adjacent to the Mt. Hood National Forest, with access to hiking, biking, and cross-country ski trails. The resort provides a shaded gaming pavilion with ping pong, giant Jenga, giant Connect Four, bocci ball, and lawn dice. An outdoor picnic and BBQ area is available seasonally. There are facilities for tennis, volleyball, basketball, and horseshoes. Fire pits are located outside the Crooked Tree Tavern & Grill during the summer. In winter, there are snowshoeing and cross country ski trails with beginner to advanced terrain. All lodging guests receive free access to Nordic trails and snowshoe rentals.

Cooper Spur Mountain Resort is located on the north side of Mt. Hood, adjacent to the Mt. Hood National Forest. It is 100 km from Portland International Airport. The resort is near the Tamanawas Falls Trailhead (3 km), Polallie Trailhead (4 km), and Tilly Jane Sno Park (2 km). The Mt. Hood National Forest extends south across more than sixty miles of mountains, lakes, and streams to Olallie Scenic Area. Mount Hood contributes to the agricultural and touristic economies of the surrounding cities.

Cooper Spur Mountain Resort offers a vending area for refreshments and snacks in the upper part of the lodge, between Condos 6 and 7. It provides access to Mt. Hood Meadows Scenic Chairlift rides. Discounted lift tickets to Mt. Hood Meadows are available. It has special arrangements for groups, company retreats, and family reunions. Cooper Spur Ski Area, available from mid-May to mid-September, can accommodate up to 60 guests. It is possible to purchase SnoPark Permits at the Ski Area Lodge or Hotel Front Desk.
