Inn's History
The Surf & Sand began as Tillamook County's U.S. Coast Guard lookout station during World War II. It later evolved into a motel and apartment complex known as the Ford Motor Court. In the 1980s, the building was renovated and re-opened as a motel. In 2016, Alex and Ronel Ponot purchased the property, renamed it the Surf & Sand and made physical and technological improvements, and developed cleaning standards. The previous owners, the Olsons, live across the street and greet new guests.
