Wheeler on the Bay Motor Lodge is located 85 miles west of Portland. This is one of the last 1940's motor court-style places to stay on the Oregon coast. Each room has a designated parking spot. All rooms are non-smoking. Rooms 1-11 are on the ground floor. Room 12 is up a steep staircase. All units include a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a Blu-ray player, and a private bathroom with a shower, free toiletries and a hairdryer. Continental breakfast is included, choose items for a picnic basket at check-in. Free Wi-Fi is available. Room service is not available; however, towels or linen are provided upon request.

Chinook (Room 1) features a queen bed, a twin bed, and a full-size sleeping futon with an 8' gel memory foam mattress. The deck offers a view of greenery and a partial bay view. The Garden Room (Room 2) has a queen bed, a twin bed, a full-size sleeping futon, a fireplace, and a kitchenette with table and chairs. The deck has a limited view of the northern Nehalem Bay. The Blue Heron (Room 3) includes a queen bed, a twin bed, a full-sized sleeping futon, a fireplace, and a kitchenette with table and chairs. The deck has a northern view of the bay and boat docks. Ebb Tide (Room 4) has a queen bed, a fireplace, a walk-in shower, and a kitchenette with table and chairs. Otter (Room 6) features a queen bed with a Tempur-Pedic mattress, a twin bed, 2 chairs, and a north-facing private deck with a bay view overlooking the marina. The Honeymoon Suite (Room 7) contains a king bed, a jetted tub, a walk-in shower, and a panoramic deck with a view of the river, Nehalem Bay, the mountains, and the sunset. Sunset (Room 8) has a queen bed, a fireplace, a jetted tub/shower, a kitchenette with table and chairs, and a deck with a view of Nehalem Bay. Mermaid (Room 9) is a corner suite with a queen bed, a fireplace, a kitchenette, a walk-in shower, and a cedar-paneled room with an elevated jetted tub for two. The deck provides a view of the river, Nehalem Bay, the mountains, wildlife, and the sunset. Pelican (Room 10) is equipped with 2 queen beds, a gas fireplace, a kitchenette, a walk-in shower, a dining set, and a ROKU TV. Suite Sea (Room 11) includes 2 bedrooms with a queen bed in each, a sofa bed, a fireplace, a table and chairs, an under-counter refrigerator, a full-size coffee maker, and a walk-in shower. The Captain's Quarters (Room 12) features 3 bedrooms with a queen bed in each, 2 twin beds, 2 futons, a kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator, a microwave, and 2 TVs with DVD players.
Things to Experience
Wheeler on the Bay Lodge and Marina features a garden, terrace and mountain views. Guests can utilize free kayaks with stays of two or more nights. Loaner binoculars are available for nature watching. There is a free video library of over one thousand DVDs. A private dock is available for fishing. There is a fish cleaning station on the dock. Freezer space is available for storing catches. Guests can cook crabs on the dock or patio using their own outdoor crab boiler. Room-side parking is free. Service animals are allowed. There is a terraced patio area with furniture, picnic tables, and bar-b-ques.

Wheeler on the Bay Lodge is an ideal base for exploration and adventures throughout the area. Wheeler Marina is next door, where guests can find traps, boat rentals, bait, and shellfish licenses. Guests can visit the Tillamook Creamery where Tillamook Cheese is made. The hotel is near Hoffman Center for the Arts (5 km), Nehalem Bay Jetty Trail (4 km), Kelly's Brighton Marina (4 km), Covenant Community Church (4 km), Nehalem Bay State Park (4 km), Nehalem Spit (4 km), Nehalem River (3 km), Sunset Beach (4 km) and Nehalem Bay (3 km).
Activities Available
Guests may experience the natural biomes and views via Twin Ranch Rail Riders, which has pedal-powered railroad quadricycles along the Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad. The location is near waterfronts, grassy tidal estuaries, dense forests, dairy farms and fields painted against stretching mountains. The bay is the perfect opportunity for kids and novice paddlers to get out and enjoy nature. Nehalem Bay is suitable for Chinook salmon, Coho Salmon, Steelhead and Cutthroat Trout. The meatiest crabs are found September through February. There are seals, blue herons, egrets, eagles, river otters, cormorants, ducks, kingfishers, and Roosevelt elk.
